Vitamin E - what is it?

Vitamin E, or tocopherol, is an antioxidant that includes a large group of natural fat-soluble biologically active components.

Exists in the form of 4 tocotrienol isomers and the same number of tocopherol isomers.

They have different functions, chemical composition and degree of biological activity (they are often combined into one concept - "tocopherol").

The combination of products for better absorption of vitamin E - picture

In its natural form, the vitamin is found in:

  • beans.
  • Peas.
  • Rice bran.
  • Sunflower seeds.
  • Nuts.
  • Spinach.
  • White cabbage.
  • Lettuce leaves.
  • Broccoli.
  • Cucumbers.

Tocopherols are found in large quantities in:

  • Vegetable oils (unrefined) - olive, soybean, cedar, corn, sesame, as well as rosehip, soybean, cereal germ, watermelon and currant seeds.
  • Butter.
  • Milk.
  • eggs.
  • Cod liver.
  • Squid.
  • Tuna.

Impact on the body

To understand how vitamin E affects the face and what it is, you need to understand the effective mechanism of this element.

All metabolic processes in our body are carried out with the participation of oxygen cells, which, under the influence of negative factors, become unstable and are converted into free radicals.

The negative factors are:

  • frequent stress,
  • Excessive physical activity
  • Sun rays,
  • malnutrition,
  • Exhaust gases, etc.

To stabilize their condition, free radicals combine with various elements that are present in the plasma membrane.

As a result, the destruction of enzymes - enzyme systems, which leads to the destruction of cell membranes.

The accumulation of free radicals in cells and tissues does not allow DNA to be completely restored, and its damage is recreated in new epithelial cells.

Over time, this leads to their destruction, to a slowdown in the process of tissue regeneration, to the elimination of elastin and collagen.

All these processes cause rapid aging of the skin, changes in its color, the appearance of flabbiness, the formation of age spots, malignant tumors, the appearance of wrinkles, etc.

It is vitamin E that is able to prevent the contact of oxygen cells with unsaturated fatty acids of lipids, as well as activate enzyme systems that resist the formation of peroxide compounds.

Due to this, cell membranes are protected from the damaging effects of free radicals.

This natural antioxidant resists the aging of cells and tissues, and also prevents the transformation of healthy cells into malignant ones.

Properties and purpose

And although tocopherol does not have anti-ultraviolet properties, when using skin milk, liquid products, vitamin E creams, sunburn and skin irritation can be effectively resisted.

Tocopherol is able to strengthen skin immunity, prevent the appearance of acne and blackheads, protect against age spots, etc.

Vitamin E is of particular benefit to the body if vitamins D, A and C are taken at the same time.

In addition, an oil solution of vitamin E for the area around the eyes also has a positive result, which is to restore skin tone, change its relief, eliminate puffiness and dark circles in the area under the eyes.

Instructions for use

Before using tocopherol for the face, you should check yourself for allergic reactions.

Test: Apply a drop of vitamin E to the area above the base of the brush (on the inside) and wait 5 minutes. If there is no redness and itching, it can be used.

The easiest way to use tocopherol is to apply it undiluted on the face:

  • To do this, just 2-3 drops or the contents of 2 capsules are enough.
  • The product must be gently rubbed into the skin of the face.
  • In the process of application, it is recommended to carry out patting and massage movements to accelerate blood circulation.

Vitamin E in oil can be added to cosmetic products for the body and face. It is better to enrich those creams that are intended for night care.

Vitamin E face masks

External use involves the use of masks with vitamin E. If you combine it with natural products and other pharmacy products, this will bring double benefits.

  • Useful for the face is a mask with glycerin. It will take 10 ml of funds. It should be mixed with oily tocopherol (half a teaspoon) and applied to the face with a cotton pad before going to bed. If you constantly eat foods containing vitamin E and properly care for your skin with products containing it, this will help:

  • Eliminate various skin imperfections,
  • Resist many diseases
  • Prevent aging processes.

The concept of "avitaminosis" can be used not only in those cases when in the spring the body "starved" for fresh vegetables and fruits. The manifestation of a lack of any vitamins is reflected in the condition of the skin, nails, hair. Vitamin E oil for the skin will help to cope with some of the problems that arise due to the lack of this vitamin in the body.

Why is it important for facial skin

Thanks to tocopherol, the skin of the face looks fresh, young, radiant, rested. Tocopherol- this is the magical additive E, which creates real miracles for the face. It restores natural beauty, participates in the processes of skin regeneration, with its help wounds and scratches heal. E is present in many foods and enters the body naturally. You can also buy it at a pharmacy for ingestion or for external use.

Many people ask the question - why is it so important and must be present in the diet.

  • Firstly, it is a necessary "building" element that the skin, hair, nails and the body as a whole needs. Tocopherol is called the elixir of beauty, because it can really be responsible for the appearance.
  • Secondly, it is able to get rid of anemia, it is recommended for oncological diseases, it is important for both children and adults, its use can be very diverse, but at the same time, the correct dosages will only benefit.

Vitamin E for beauty

Its deficiency manifests itself, as they say, on the face - the skin becomes dry, dull, lifeless, and even expensive creams and cosmetics cannot restore its radiance and good tone. Usually, cosmetologists can determine the lack of vitamin E by the appearance of their patients. And they prescribe a complex treatment, where tocopherol is necessarily present.

In pharmacies, the vitamin is sold in capsules; if necessary, it is prescribed for internal use.

The same preparation in capsules is used to prepare some types of face masks, for the skin of the hands, and a special solution with a vitamin content is prepared for masks applied to the hair. In general, E is produced in the female body on its own, but over the years, every woman needs the additional use of an active biological supplement.

  • in winter tocopherol will protect the skin from dryness - you can add oil from capsules bought at a pharmacy to your favorite face cream, or purchase a new one based on tocopherol.
  • spring with the help of it, ladies are in a hurry to get rid of freckles, irritations and skin rashes.
  • In summer - it is the best protector against excess ultraviolet radiation in the sun.
  • well and autumn it will support the body during the period of prolonged rains and gray everyday life.

Ready-made vitamin E is sold in several forms: oily solution, capsules and ampoules. All three options can be used for different applications - inside or outside. For the skin of the face, many options for various recipes for masks have been developed. Many of them have a lifting effect, after application the skin looks rejuvenated and with an enviable blush, peeling and dryness disappear, and there is no point in spending money on expensive cosmetic preparations.

Where is contained

The most delicious foods are rich in the beauty vitamin. First of all, it is butter, cod liver, it is abundant in tuna, squid is rich in vitamin E. This important component for the body is present in grain products, in bran, in many types of nuts. It is found in white cabbage, cucumbers, spinach leaves, beans, peas. A lot of vitamin in vegetable oils - soybean, olive, corn, cedar, sesame.

The constant use of these products will not allow the body to suffer from a lack of vitamin E, which primarily affects the skin of the face.

Making masks at home

The simplest masks with tocopherol moisturize, nourish, protect, rejuvenate the skin of the face. They should be used regularly - two or even three times a week, depending on age. One ampoule can be used in combination with honey and natural yogurt without additives. The components are mixed in equal proportions, the finished mixture is applied to areas of the face with pronounced wrinkles for about 20 minutes.

Greetings, my dear friends. If they made a competition to identify the most useful antioxidant for the skin, tocopherol would be the winner. Believe me, this is a real miracle remedy. Therefore, I decided to devote today's article to how vitamin E is useful for the face and how to use it correctly.

  • What is vitamin E good for

    This element is rightfully considered a “miracle cure”. Tocopherol acts as a natural moisturizer, slows down skin aging, heals sunburn and brightens it. Let's take a closer look at all its advantages.

    1. Acts as a moisturizer. Vitamin E restores and rejuvenates dehydrated skin. It is best suited for dry and damaged skin. Since she most of all needs to restore lost moisture ( 1 ). If you have normal or oily skin, you should seek the advice of a dermatologist. Such a humidifier is heavy - it can provoke the appearance of inflammation.
    2. Slows down skin aging. Vitamin E helps the skin produce collagen, which. It stimulates the renewal of epidermal cells. Regular use will help prevent the appearance of new wrinkles ( 2 ).
    3. Treats sunburn. Vitamin E contains antioxidants that neutralize the effects of free radicals caused by ultraviolet radiation. It soothes sunburn 3 ).
    4. Lightens dark spots. Free radicals cause hyperpigmentation of the skin. Vitamin E is a fortified source of antioxidants that reduce skin damage ( 4 ).
    5. Stretch marks treatment. Vitamin E is beneficial in the postpartum period as it helps reduce stretch marks. Regular use of this oil for stretch marks, combined with gentle rubbing movements, has shown good results. The oil will restore skin elasticity and lighten stretch marks ( 5 ).
    6. Makes lips soft. The oil is extremely effective in getting rid of dryness after a cold or during the cold season ( 6 ).

    Vitamin E can be applied as a mask or pointwise. Also, tocopherol can be added to a nourishing cream. And if you feel a strong tightness of the skin, and there was no cream at hand, use oil. That is, if you have a choice of “nothing or oil”, then choose oil. Well, on bezrybe and cancer - fish.

    However, with long-term use, of course, the skin is best affected by a properly selected cream. In its composition, in addition to water and oil, there are many useful active ingredients. These substances are selected taking into account age. If it is 30+, then there are some components, if 40+, then there are others. In oil, there is only. Therefore, I do not advise replacing creams with oils in daily facial care.

    But let's talk about everything in order 🙂

    User reviews

    Below I bring to your judgment reviews of those who use tocopherol in skin care. Study and draw conclusions.

    Anna : Serum super! I use at night. After application, the skin glistens for some time and stickiness remains, by morning everything disappears.

    Nona : I use this tool once a day. I add it to masks and creams. I also add oily vitamin E to the base oil and apply it on the skin around the eyes. The composition is easy to apply and quickly absorbed.

    Lika A: I have problematic skin. That's why I use tea tree oil often. I mix with tocopherol and put this mix into masks. The effect is pleasing - the rash becomes less.

    Zoya : I applied liquid vitamin E on my face. Nightmare! Don't repeat my mistake. All the pores clogged, now I'm fighting it

    Sarina : I heard enough about the fact that this vitamin helps with wrinkles. I applied it in its pure form on the skin of the eyelids. In the morning my eyes were swollen, as if bees had bitten them.

    Svetlanka : Used this product in winter. Well, you yourself understand in the cold season without additional nutrition in any way. So I decided to use an oil solution. After him, such a terrible brilliance appeared. I didn't notice any other effect.

    How to use pure

    Tocopherol capsules at home should be used as follows:

    1. It is necessary to first cleanse the face of the remnants of cosmetics. For this, special means intended for washing - or gel will fit.
    2. The face is moistened with water. Remember that it should not be dry. Filtered water, or mineral water without gas, will do.
    3. Cover the face with oil and leave for 10 minutes.
    4. Rinse thoroughly and apply a moisturizer to the face.

    But the use of capsules worries me a little. The composition itself is confusing. The pharmacy sells liquid vitamin E in capsules.

    The instructions for use clearly state that the active substance alpha-tocopherol acetate is contained in the oil. Those. to obtain 1 capsule, weighing 300 mg, add 100 mg of sunflower oil

    For this reason, I do not recommend replacing eye care products with vitamin E. This solution is too heavy for thin skin. And if you leave it overnight, in the morning there will be huge bags under the eyes, as they say in the reviews.

    It is better to make masks with natural oils that contain vitamin E in its natural form. Because they just contain .

    Below I give the proportions of tocopherol in oils:

    Face masks

    A skillfully made do-it-yourself face mask is sometimes in no way inferior to an industrial counterpart. First, it is made from natural ingredients. Secondly, the cost of such a tool is much lower than that of purchased products.

    Before using such a product, it is imperative to cleanse the face of cosmetic residues and impurities,. Remember that the mask should be applied along the massage lines. And after the time specified in the recipe, this cosmetic product should be washed off. And do not walk with a mask around the apartment like a ghost. The mask is a heavy product and there is no need to stretch the skin down again, creating wrinkles.

    And one more thing, you need to prepare homemade masks immediately before using them. The fact is that tocopherol is unstable - it breaks down under the influence of sunlight. Therefore, you should not store such cosmetic mixtures. Made, used and ready.

    overnight face mask recipe

    As part of this miracle remedy with a rejuvenating effect, there are the following components:

    • 1 st. a spoonful of cocoa butter;
    • 1 st. a spoonful of tocopherol;
    • 1 st. a spoonful of sea buckthorn oil.

    First of all, melt the cocoa butter in a water bath. Then enrich the cooled mass with vitamin and sea buckthorn oil. Apply the finished mixture in a thick layer on the eyelid area. Cover these areas of skin with parchment paper on top - this must be done so that the product does not spread. You need to keep such a mask for about a quarter of an hour.

    I advise you to make a mask at night. It is better if it is 2-3 hours before bedtime. It is enough to do the procedure a couple of times a week.

    Cosmetic anti-wrinkle

    This composition is a tandem and vitamin E. The first component moisturizes the skin and fills in fine wrinkles. As a result, the visible signs of skin aging become barely noticeable. The second component is already known to us 🙂

    The tandem of glycerin and vitamin E forms a thin film on the skin, which prevents moisture from evaporating. And this duet helps to accelerate the healing of small wounds and removes inflammation.

    For a miracle remedy, you will need 3 ml of glycerin and 1 capsule of tocopherol. The components are mixed and applied to a cleansed face. After half an hour, you need to remove the remnants of the product. By the way, after such a mask, you don’t need to wash your face - just blot the remnants of the nutrient mixture.

    Mask with toning effect

    To make it, you will need 2 vitamin E capsules and a fresh cucumber. Peel the vegetable, and chop the pulp into gruel (you can use a blender or on a grater). Then mix the cucumber mass with the contents of the capsules and apply on a cleansed face. After applying such a mask, I advise you to lie down, otherwise everything will be in this mixture everywhere. And after 20 minutes, wash your face and cover your face with a nourishing cream.

    Rejuvenating Blend

    Her recipe is:

    • 1 st. spoon ;
    • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed cucumber juice;
    • 5 drops of tocopherol;
    • cold water.

    We dilute white clay with water until a creamy mass is obtained. And we enrich this composition with juice and vitamin. Once again, mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Then apply the product to the cleansed face. Hold for a quarter of an hour, then rinse and cover the skin with a moisturizer.

    One of the main components that help maintain youth and freshness is vitamin E for facial skin. This substance is very important for the condition of the epidermis. This is determined by the fact that tocopherol (vitamin E) has a strong antioxidant effect. Its effect reduces the energy of free radicals, which, under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the environment and oxygen, are formed in tissues.

    It should be noted that the vitamin enters the skin sufficiently and in the required form, but at the same time its consumption in these areas is increased. For this reason, wrinkles, spots and other problems primarily appear on the face. An increase in the dose of tocopherol entering the skin provides a rejuvenating effect, brightens the skin, cleanses it and smoothes wrinkles.

    Useful action

    An oil solution of tocopherol stimulates blood circulation, providing nutrients and oxygen to all skin cells. This helps to accelerate their regeneration after microdamage. In addition, the general condition and appearance of the skin improves. An oily solution is useful to eliminate bags under the eyes and reduce the likelihood of the formation of a venous network.

    Tocopherol acetate also has an effect on the development of cancer cells. Its antioxidant properties lead to a pronounced anti-cancer effect. The less a cell experiences free radical damage, the less likely it is to develop cancer cells. It is especially important to use vitamin E for those who are often in the sun.

    How to use

    First of all, the body must receive tocopherol acetate with food. To do this, the daily diet should contain a variety of foods, fruits, fatty fish, nuts. If necessary, additional intake of vitamin in capsules is allowed, or an oil solution can be used.

    The external use of tocopherol boils down to the fact that it must be applied in its pure form to the skin or added to recipes for masks and creams.

    Rules for applying to the skin

    The easiest way to use an oil solution is to apply it to the surface of the skin, following the recommended dosage. Such application will ensure not only the saturation of the skin with moisture, but also its intensive enrichment, and will prevent the appearance of early signs of aging on the face. You can rub tocopherol in concentrated form or dilute it with water or other oils.

    Use the liquid solution in areas near the eyes should be extremely careful. There, the agent is applied in a small amount, otherwise it will have a completely opposite effect. The skin will become irritated or red. In order to prevent the occurrence of an allergic reaction, it is worth remembering that it is better not to interfere with tocopherol with oils and preparations that contain salt.

    Glycerin cream

    An oily solution of tocopherol, added to a cream with glycerin, has an excellent anti-aging effect. To prepare such a cream, you need the following ingredients:

    • chamomile decoction (one hundred grams);
    • glycerin (100 grams);
    • vitamin E (about ten drops).

    All components are mixed until a homogeneous mass. The cream can be stored for no more than three days in the refrigerator, that is, a portion should be calculated small.

    Internal application

    Like all other vitamins, tocopherol acetate is best absorbed if it enters the cells along with the blood stream. This option is the most natural for the body - the supply ensures the supply of the vitamin to each cell, regardless of the depth at which it is located under the skin. If the vitamin is contained in the body enough, then the tissues receive it in the amount required for normal operation.

    In cosmetology, an oil solution of a vitamin is often added to the composition of care products. But the external use of this useful substance has some disadvantages. Of the total amount of tocopherol entering the body, only a small part of it penetrates into the skin cells. And the deep subcutaneous layers do experience a lack of it, since this substance practically does not reach inside.

    In addition, home application of cosmetic care products is not always regular, and for the normal supply of the skin with everything necessary, failures are highly undesirable. Therefore, in order for the skin to receive the vitamin in the right amount, it is necessary to adjust the diet or additionally take tocopherol in capsules.

    Useful masks

    You can and should use an oil solution of vitamin E in the manufacture of homemade masks. Such products help to improve the protective mechanisms of the skin, help speed up the recovery and renewal of cells, prevent the appearance of early wrinkles, cell destruction by free radicals.

    There are several basic recipe options, but it is not necessary to strictly adhere to them. You can simply take them as a basis and add those components that the skin needs.

    Remedy for dehydrated skin

    In order to make a mask according to this recipe, you will need grated fatty cottage cheese (two tablespoons). Add the yolk and olive oil to the curd mixture. Mix everything thoroughly, pour lemon juice and vitamin E (five drops) into the mass.

    It is worth noting that the mask at the time of application should be at room temperature. The skin must first be cleaned of cosmetics. After applying the product to the skin of the face, neck and décolleté, lie down in an extremely relaxed position. The mask is kept on the face for about ten minutes, then washed off with plain water.

    For problem skin

    You will need blue clay (one large spoon), which must be diluted with brewed green tea, or you can also use an herbal decoction for dilution, which has anti-inflammatory properties. The mixture should be brought to a homogeneous state and an oil solution of tocopherol or vitamin from the capsule in its pure form should be added to it. The agent is applied to well-cleansed and preferably steamed skin for fifteen minutes.

    Clay should harden during this period of time, so you need to wash off the mask very carefully, wetting the skin. After the first session, inflammation on the skin will become less pronounced and heal quickly. With normal skin, sea buckthorn oil, which is also characterized by remarkable anti-inflammatory properties, can be added to the remedy.

    Conclusion

    The key to healthy and well-groomed skin is its good nutrition. It depends on whether the skin cells will receive all the necessary substances to a sufficient extent, how healthy and attractive the appearance will be. Vitamin E is considered a fundamental component that provides the perfect appearance of the skin.

    In addition, tocopherol promotes rapid cell regeneration, evens out complexion, saturates the dermis with moisture, prevents peeling, and increases defenses. Prevents the appearance of dark circles under the eyes and bruises. The oil solution helps in the fight against the first signs of aging, cleansing of toxins that have the most detrimental effect on the condition of the skin of the face.

    It is worth noting that taking tocopherol in capsules or any other form is also useful for the normal functioning of the reproductive function. Tocopherol, when ingested with food, stimulates the ovaries, which produce female sex hormones - estrogens, which generally affect women's health and appearance.

    With regards to external use, when it gets on the skin, the oil solution penetrates deep into the cells, stimulating the metabolic processes between them. Due to this, the removal of toxins and decay products is accelerated, the cells are cleansed, and their ability to regenerate increases. Such properties of tocopherol explain its name, because in Latin this word means - providing birth.

For this, special means intended for washing will fit.
    2. The face is moistened with water. Remember that it should not be dry. Filtered water, thermal water or mineral water without gas will do.
    3. Cover the face with oil and leave for 10 minutes.
    4. Rinse thoroughly and apply a moisturizer to the face.

    But the use of capsules worries me a little. The composition itself is confusing. The pharmacy sells liquid vitamin E in capsules. The instructions for this drug clearly state that sunflower or other vegetable oil is present.

Because they just contain all 8 components of this vitamin.

    Below I give the proportions of tocopherol in oils:

    By the way, if you are worried that you may have a lot of excess tocopherol, then read how effectively vitamin E can also be used for hair?

    Face masks

    A skillfully made do-it-yourself face mask is sometimes in no way inferior to an industrial counterpart. First, it is made from natural ingredients. Secondly, the cost of such a tool is much lower than that of purchased products.

    Before using such a product, it is imperative to cleanse the face of cosmetic residues and impurities.

    • 1 st. a spoonful of cocoa butter;
    • 1 st. a spoonful of tocopherol;
    • 1 st. a spoonful of sea buckthorn oil.

    This composition is a tandem of glycerin and vitamin E. The first component moisturizes the skin and fills in fine wrinkles. As a result, the visible signs of skin aging become barely noticeable. The second component is already known to us?

    • 1 st. a spoonful of kaolin;
    • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed cucumber juice;
    • 5 drops of tocopherol;

    Reviews of cosmetologists

    The growing obsession with oils is rooted in the belief that a "natural and natural" product is a panacea. But don't take all the information lightly. I think that it is much more reasonable to understand everything, and only then draw some conclusions.

    To begin with, I propose to remember what a cream is and what an oil is. As for the latter, it is 100% lipids or fat. But in the composition of the cream there are always oils, but only their content can vary. It ranges from 10 to 40 percent. This indicator depends on the type of skin for which the product is designed, and age.

    When caring for young skin, you should not use a cream with a 40% fat content. Nothing good will come of this. Moreover, you can not apply the oil in its pure form for a long time.

    I will not deny that in the short term, the oil works perfectly. Dryness and tightness disappear, the epidermis becomes soft and smooth. But if you constantly use it instead of a cream, the skin will become dry. Yes, yes, you heard right. This product will dry out the skin.

    With continued use, this product will dilute your epidermal lipids. In addition, it creates a film on the surface of the skin. It disrupts the skin's breathing and prevents moisture from evaporating. As a result, metabolic processes are inhibited - the skin becomes dehydrated. And the oily type of the epidermis will be even more damaged - the oil will clog the pores.

    Yes, today oils are presented in a wide range - for any type of skin, including problematic ones. But to me, it's just marketing. Here is a review of a beautician

    At home, I myself do a massage with coconut oil - I smear the body and ends of the hair. But I won’t do it on my face anymore, I got spoiled in my youth. My oily skin is dry. Because I applied it not to moisturized skin and almost every day.

    The fact that vitamin E (or tocopherol) has truly miraculous properties has been known for a long time. Tocopherol in literal translation from Latin means "promoting birth" and it more than justifies its name. It stimulates the processes of cell regeneration and renewal, prevents skin aging, preserving and maintaining its beauty, smoothes wrinkles and gives a lifting effect. Thanks to its healing effect on the skin, this vitamin is rightfully considered the vitamin of youth.

    Vitamin E is by far the most useful vitamin for the skin, it is used in the treatment and prevention of various skin diseases. The deficiency of this vitamin immediately affects the condition of our skin: it becomes flabby, excessively dry, and muscle tone is lost. This vitamin contributes to the normalization of the functioning of the female reproductive system, which again favorably affects the external attractiveness of the beautiful half of humanity. Tocopherol stimulates the ovaries, which also produce estrogens or beauty hormones, as a result of which the skin is visibly smoothed and tightened, acquiring freshness and elasticity. In order for a woman's skin to be in a healthy and radiant state, it is necessary to consume at least 100 mg of vitamin E per day in food every day.

    In addition to the internal use of vitamin E, daily nourishment of the skin from the outside is necessary. It is worth noting that this vitamin, among other things, inhibits the processes of photoaging of the skin, fights dry skin, maintaining the water-lipid balance, solves the problem of age spots, freckles, stretch marks and scars, acne, has a calming effect, relieving inflammation, irritation and peeling of the skin. . Also, vitamin E improves blood circulation in tissues and reduces the risk of developing cancer, protecting the body from the action of free radicals.

    It should be said that in order for the body to fully assimilate tocopherol, zinc and selenium are also required. In addition, without tocopherol, our body cannot absorb vitamin A, on which the elasticity of the epithelium depends.

    The miraculous properties of vitamin E could not be used by cosmetic companies. Almost every cosmetic product designed to rejuvenate and care for problematic and aging skin contains vitamin E.

    The use of tocopherol in skin care.

    How does vitamin E affect the skin?

    Vitamin E is a whole group of biologically active fat-soluble natural compounds that exhibit antioxidant properties. Under natural conditions, it exists in the form of four structural d-isomers of tocopherol and the same number of tocotrienol isomers corresponding to them. They differ from each other in chemical structure, degree of biological activity and functions, and are often combined under one term - "tocopherol".

    In its natural form, it is tocopherols found in soybeans, beans and peas, whole grains, rice bran, nuts, sunflower seeds, lettuce and white cabbage, broccoli, spinach and cucumbers.

    A particularly large amount of them is found in unrefined vegetable oils - soybean, cereal germ, blackcurrant seeds, olive, corn, cottonseed, cedar, sunflower, sesame, rosehip, watermelon seeds, somewhat less - in butter, eggs, milk, cod liver , tuna, squid.

    Unlike tocopherols, tocotrienols, which are more effective in their effect on biochemical processes in cells and tissues, are found only in wheat germ, barley, rye and rice grains, and from oils - mainly in rice bran, coconut, palm and oil cocoa. When applied to the skin, they accumulate in significant concentrations in the upper stratum corneum and penetrate deeper skin layers faster and easier than tocopherols.

    Is vitamin E good for facial skin?

    The answer to this question becomes clear after a general acquaintance with the mechanism of action of these biologically active natural elements. Almost all metabolic processes in the body proceed with the participation of oxygen molecules, which, under stress, heavy physical exertion, exposure of the skin to direct sunlight, tobacco smoke, exhaust gases and other adverse factors of the external and/or internal environment, acquire unstable and excessively active forms, representing are free radicals.

    In an effort to stabilize, free radicals attach electrons to themselves (oxidize) from other compounds, including lipids that make up cell membranes. By doing this, they destroy enzymatic systems (enzymes) and lead to the destruction of cell membranes. Damage to cellular DNA is also possible, since it contains the most unsaturated fatty acids, which are easily oxidized.

    Is it possible to lubricate the face with vitamin E?

    The accumulation of free radicals in tissues prevents the restoration of cellular DNA, and its damage is reproduced in new epithelial cells. This gradually leads to their death, to a slowdown in regenerative processes and an acceleration of degenerative changes in tissues, to the destruction of collagen and elastin proteins, which manifests itself in faster aging of the skin and a deterioration in its color, a decrease in tone and the appearance of flabbiness, in the formation of age spots, wrinkles, malignant tumors, etc.

    The effect of vitamin E lies in its ability to form hydrophobic (water-repellent) complexes and occupy a position in the structure of the cell membrane that prevents the contact of its unsaturated lipids with oxygen, as well as in the activation of enzyme systems (catalase and peroxidase), which are involved in the neutralization of peroxide formations.

    This protects biological membranes from the destructive effects of free radicals. In addition, the nuclei of tocopherol molecules have the ability to interact with peroxides of fatty acids and free oxygen radicals and bind them, as well as the ability to stabilize the structure of membranes by preventing the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups of membrane protein molecules.

    Performing a universal protection of cells from the damaging effect of free radicals, tocopherol is not only a powerful natural antioxidant that prevents tissue aging and malignant transformation of cells. Despite the fact that it is not an ultraviolet filter, nevertheless, the use of cosmetic milk and creams containing it, the use of liquid vitamin E prevent sunburn and tissue irritation.

    D-isomers of tocopherols and tocotrienols also have the properties of an antihypoxant, which reduces the need for cells in oxygen. This is due to their stabilizing effect not only on the membranes of the cells themselves, but also on the membranes of mitochondria. Antioxidant and antihypoxant functions increase local skin immunity, provide tocopherol with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, which has a beneficial effect when it is used against acne on the face, allow the use of vitamin E from age spots and as a prophylactic against malignant skin tumors.

    Under its influence, the synthesis of collagen proteins in the subcutaneous adipose tissue, the synthesis of coenzyme Q, cytochromes, nucleic acids, the myosin enzyme adenosine triphosphatase, which is necessary for contraction of muscle fibers, and the enzyme necessary for the transfer of calcium ions to the cytoplasm during relaxation of the latter (calcium ATPase) are carried out. etc.

    This explains the fact that, to a certain extent, liquid vitamin E for the skin around the eyes has a beneficial effect in terms of normalizing the tone of the circular muscles of the eye, increasing skin tone, improving its relief, reducing the severity of puffiness and "dark circles" under the eyes.

    Thus, vitamin E, when applied to the skin of the face, has the following effects:

    1. Reduces the degree of harmful effects on cells and tissues of aggressive environmental factors and intermediate products of metabolism in the body.
    2. It normalizes the complexion due to the improvement of blood microcirculation, and promotes the regeneration of epithelial cells, resulting in a decrease in the severity of small scars.
    3. Contributes to the treatment of acne and post-acne.
    4. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, increases the immune defense of tissues.
    5. Reduces the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation on the skin and reduces its irritation.
    6. Slows down the aging process of tissues, especially in combination with vitamins "A" and "C".
    7. Increases the tone and elasticity of the skin, normalizes their moisture, thanks to the preservation of the water-lipid layer, helps to reduce skin flabbiness and the severity of fine wrinkles, improve its relief, reduce swelling and "dark circles" under the eyes.
    8. Significantly reduces the likelihood of developing skin tumors of a malignant nature.
    9. Prevents the appearance or reduces the severity of age and other types of age spots.

    How to use vitamin E in skin care

    Tocopherol preparations are produced with the content of the main substance in its pure form and in the form of synthetic tocopherol acetate. When purchasing the latter, it should be borne in mind that this synthetic product is half composed of L-isomers, which have a very low efficiency.

    An oily solution of tocopherol is produced in various concentrations for internal use in gelatin capsules, in ampoules for injection, in solutions for external use. For use for cosmetic purposes (biorevitalization, mesotherapy, especially in the periorbital zone), solutions are produced in vials containing a complex of vitamins - “E”, “A”, “C”, as well as various creams containing tocopherol.

    Application at home

    For the external use of vitamin E, pharmacy forms can be used in concentrated form, for example, a concentrated (20%) oily solution of tocopherol in gelatin capsules or in the form of 5-10% ampoule and vial solutions.

    The use of vitamin E capsules in this (20%) concentration is effective and convenient when it is necessary to "point" application to age spots and small scars. For this purpose, the gelatin capsule is pierced with a needle, and its contents are carefully applied to the defect area.

    However, it is undesirable to apply concentrated solutions to large areas of the skin, since they can cause pronounced inflammatory and allergic reactions. Concentrated vitamin E in its pure form can be used for self-preparation of a face cream or emulsion.

    In addition, weakly concentrated (5-10%) ready-made pharmacy oil solutions are also used, which are applied to the skin with a cotton pad along the facial massage lines and in the periorbital zone (in the area of "bags" and "dark circles" under the eyes). After applying the drug, it is desirable to carry out a massage in the form of light tapping on the skin with the “pads” of the nail phalanges of the fingers.

    Do I need to wash vitamin E off my face?

    The oily solution of tocopherol applied directly to the skin of the face is characterized by special advantages. The structure and properties of its molecules contribute to the dissolution and rapid absorption into the skin. Therefore, it does not make sense to wash it off - it is advisable to apply it before going to bed and leave it on all night, and in the morning it is necessary to wash with warm water. This procedure is recommended to be repeated 2-3 times a week.

    If the active substance was used as a component in creams or masks, for example, a pharmacy or cosmetic face cream with vitamin E, then in these cases the remnants of the drug are removed after a certain time, which is usually indicated in the instructions.

    There are a large number of recipes for preparing skin care products at home. Some of them:

    • The classic is a mask consisting of glycerin (25 milliliters) with pure tocopherol (10 milliliters) contained in a gelatin capsule or vial. The solution is applied before going to bed with a cotton pad on the skin, which after 1 hour must be slightly dried with a dry cloth.
    • To the classic mask, you can add 5 ml of castor or camphor oil and 100 ml of infusion from a mixture of calendula flowers, chamomile and St. John's wort. Such an emulsion not only moisturizes and smoothes the skin, but also has anti-inflammatory and bactericidal properties. It is also applied at night.
    • Nourishing mask consisting of freshly squeezed aloe juice (30 ml) and vitamins E from capsules and “A” (5 drops each). It is applied to the skin for 15 minutes, after which it is washed off with warm water.
    • For any skin type, a face mask with vitamin E (5 drops), the pulp of 1 banana and two tablespoons of heavy cream is well suited, which is kept on the face for about 20 minutes and washed off with warm water.
    • For the eyelids and periorbital zone, you can prepare a composition of melted cocoa butter, a 10% solution of tocopherol and sea buckthorn berry oil, 20 ml each. The mask is applied liberally for 15 minutes and covered with parchment paper, after which its remnants are removed with a dry cloth, but not washed off. It is desirable to carry out procedures before going to bed (2 hours before) three times a week.

    A balanced diet containing foods rich in tocopherols and tocotrienols, proper skin care using preparations containing tocopherol contribute to the prevention of many diseases, eliminate various facial skin defects, and prevent the early development of aging processes and their manifestations.

    Such a complex effect on the skin makes this pharmaceutical preparation very popular not only in home, but also in modern cosmetology. However, given that this is still a drug, it must be handled with extreme caution. First you need to learn how to use vitamin E for the face at home, and then start preparing anti-aging elixirs.

    Where to get vitamin E

    Before mastering the art of how to use vitamin E for the face at home, you need to choose one of its pharmacy forms, each of which can become the basis for preparing anti-aging masks.

    1. You can buy vitamin E in capsules of a beautiful translucent amber color, inside of which there is an oily liquid. Usually, vitamin E capsules are pierced with a clean needle, the healing oil is squeezed out of them and used directly as part of homemade cosmetic masks.
    2. Oily 50% solution, medically called "Alpha-tocopherol acetate". This dosage form is more convenient to use for home-made masks than capsules, because nothing needs to be pierced and squeezed.
    3. Tocopherol in liquid form (in ampoules) is also very convenient as a base for anti-aging cosmetics.

    All these preparations suggest that vitamin E for the face in its pure form with the addition of various auxiliary ingredients will be used for cosmetic purposes. However, if there are contraindications for the external use of this drug (serious diseases of the skin or circulatory system), it will be enough to use masks from products in which the tocopherol content is very high:

    • from fresh vegetables: carrots, radishes, cucumbers, cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, onions;
    • from berries: viburnum, mountain ash, sweet cherry, sea buckthorn;

    What is the uniqueness of vitamin "E" - tococrol

    Vitamin E was discovered in 1922 and initially scientists described its anti-aging effect on the entire body. Every year more and more new research was carried out, until this miraculous vitamin revealed all its secrets to us.

    The most important property of tocopherol is antioxidant. Vitamin E fights like a real warrior against free radicals that try to destroy the membranes of all body cells. This is its main task - protection from old age and disease.

    The skin is only one of the targets that vitamin E tries to protect. But how important it is for us women. After all, everyone wants to look beautiful and young for as long as possible. And how we grieve the new wrinkles that have recently appeared.

    What are the effects of vitamin E on the skin?

    • Suspends and prevents further aging of the dermis;
    • Promotes rapid regeneration and restoration of cells;
    • Smoothes existing wrinkles and has a lifting effect, creating a tightened oval of the face, reducing the double chin;
    • Gives its valuable gift to the skin, while maintaining its firmness and elasticity;
    • Creates freshness and a beautiful complexion by improving microcirculation, strengthening blood vessels;
    • Removes inflammatory changes on the skin, eliminates acne, pimples, boils;
    • Whitens the skin, eliminates age-related pigmentation, and freckles become less noticeable;
    • Equally effectively treats very dry and, on the contrary, oily skin;
    • Perfect for dry skin, regulates intracellular water balance, moisturizes;
    • Regulates the secretion of sebum and suppresses the activity of the sebaceous glands in people with oily skin;
    • It has an undoubted healing effect on the skin. Protects cells from the aggression of free radicals, removes toxins from the body, thereby protecting the skin from very serious diseases: psoriasis, cancer.

    Where can I buy vitamin "E" for making masks

    Usually we go to the pharmacy to get tocopherol and ask the pharmacist for this medicine. We are told that the pharmacy has vitamin E in the form of capsules, ampoules and in the form of an oil solution. What to choose:

    • The oil solution (50%) is alpha-tocopherol acetate. It is very convenient to measure it with teaspoons when preparing masks.
    • Vitamin E in the form of capsules inside has the same composition. To prepare masks, you need to take 3-5-10 capsules, pierce them with a clean needle and squeeze out the substance.
    • Tocopherol in ampoules is also used at home. Always accurate, convenient dosages.

    Well, in fact, in the manufacture of anti-aging masks, you can use any form. Pure tocopherol is not used. Usually combined with natural extracts that enhance the anti-aging properties of vitamin E.

    Such masks have a quick and noticeable effect even after the first procedure. But still, the concentration of tocopherol in them is quite high, which can cause allergies.

    Therefore, you should first conduct an allergy test. Apply a drop of the substance on the skin of the forearm, grind and leave for a day. The absence of redness indicates that there is no allergy to vitamin E. You can create and create masks.

    If you still do not want to immediately start with high (medicinal) doses of the drug, you can use natural products with a high content of vitamin E.

    Such products include spinach, leaf lettuce, sea buckthorn berries, and rose hips. We get a vitamin with oatmeal, which we cook for ourselves for breakfast. A lot of vitamin E in egg yolk and milk, nuts and seeds, some herbs (raspberry leaves, nettles). But, of course, the highest content of natural vitamin E is present in pumpkin, olive and other vegetable oils.

    General rules for the use of masks with tocopherol

    When you prepare a mask at home according to the recipe described below, you need to apply it correctly:

    • First, steam your face over a steam bath. To do this, take a handful of chamomile flowers and boil it in a saucepan with 1-2 liters of water. Pour the broth into a convenient bowl, on the table, tilt your face over the water, covering your head with a terry towel. Hold your face in this way over the steam for 10 minutes;
    • With any scrub (for example, crushed sea salt powder in a spoonful of milk), clean your face to expand pores;
    • Apply the prepared mixture in a dense layer on the face along the massage lines, without affecting the area around the eyes. If you have chosen a recipe where a liquid consistency is obtained, first apply the mixture to the gauze, then put it on your face;
    • Calmly lie down with a mask on your face for 20 minutes;
    • Wash it off with water. But you can use a cotton swab moistened with milk, as well as a decoction of medicinal herbs. Pat your face dry with a paper towel. Apply a nourishing cream;
    • Do this procedure once or twice a week. The total number should not exceed 10 applications of masks. Repeat these courses several times throughout the year.

Just eat more vegetable oils (for example, linseed), nuts, spinach in your diet.
